Fernblock® Technology

An innovative, patented technology that features in every Heliocare product. Research started on this remarkable technology over 25 years ago and still continues today as new skin benefits are discovered. 

Fernblock is a unique extract of the fern Polypodium leucotomos which is native to Central America. This once aquatic plant developed its own natural protective mechanism to the sun. It’s this activity that has been harnessed in Fernblock to help protect our skin from damage caused by the sun and our environment. 

Benefits of Fernblock® Technology

Sun protection

Fernblock is clinically proven to help protect the skin from damage caused by UVA, UVB, visible light and infrared-A from the sun. It’s also proven to help improve our skin's resistance to sunburn, and even increase the efficacy of SPF filters.

DNA repair

Sun exposure causes damage to the DNA in our cells which means that cells can’t function correctly, and can even lead to mutations. Fernblock has been shown to reduce this damage, and increase and accelerate its repair.

Antioxidant activity

Fernblock is a powerful anti-oxidant, helping to boost skin health by neutralising free radicals that are released in the skin during and after sun exposure.

Wrinkle & pigmentation prevention

Fernblock helps to protect collagen from damage helping to reduce wrinkles from forming. It’s also proven to prevent hyperpigmentation and reduce the intensity and size of existing pigmentation patches.

RetinSphere® Technology

RetinSphere Technology is a patented, advanced retinoid combination that offers high efficacy while being gentle on the skin.  

Retinol, often used in anti-ageing and spot-prone skin routines, is powerful at promoting skin cell renewal for smoother, fresher skin, but can also cause skin irritation and sensitivity. RetinSphere Technology combines two stable retinoids, Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate and Retinol, and has been designed to deliver immediate and long-lasting results with minimal irritation. 

This unique blend stimulates skin cells and enhances natural renewal processes, and features in Cantabria Labs' Endocare, Biretix, and Neoretin skincare ranges.

A revolutionary, patented technology derived from Deschampsia antarctica, an Antarctic plant that thrives in extreme environmental conditions.  

This powerful ingredient harnesses the power of the plant’s natural protective mechanism and is clinically proven to help defend the skin against damage caused by pollution, tobacco smoke, UVA, UVB and visible light.  

EDAFENCE has also been shown to have skin rejuvenation benefits too, by reducing pigmentation, neutralising free radicals and enhancing the skin barrier, which is why it’s the perfect addition to products in the Endocare range.
