In my clinical practice, we’re always looking for ways to improve outcomes; faster healing, fewer side effects, and happier patients. Skincare isn’t an afterthought; it’s an integral part of the journey. When combined with clinical procedures or prescription medications, BIRETIX plays a key role in elevating acne protocols from good to great.

Why adjuvant skincare matters in acne treatment

When patients come in for aesthetic acne treatments (chemical peels, microneedling, LED light therapy, or laser) we need products that not only complement the in-clinic work but actively support healing, barrier repair, and ongoing acne control.

That’s where BIRETIX excels: it maintains momentum between treatments while minimising the side effects often seen with stronger actives.

How to combine BIRETIX with clinical acne treatments

I typically introduce BIRETIX Duo immediately after the initial consultation. Ideally, patients use it for at least two weeks prior to their first procedure to prep the skin, reduce congestion, and begin balancing sebum.

However, I advise patients to stop using Duo 2–3 days before the procedure, and again pause post-treatment for 2–3 days, depending on how the skin reacts. In some cases, particularly after stronger peels, we may extend this break until the skin barrier is fully recovered.

To maintain skin support throughout this period, we use BIRETIX Isorepair as the key post-procedure product.

BIRETIX Isorepair

BIRETIX Isorepair:

  • Supports barrier repair
  • Helps reduce inflammation
  • Minimises downtime
  • Is fully compatible with all resurfacing and prescriptive protocols

This combination helps patients feel supported, even when they're not using actives.

Using BIRETIX with prescription acne medications

When working alongside oral or topical medications (e.g. isotretinoin or retinoids), Isorepair is a constant in the routine to prevent dryness and inflammation. BIRETIX Duo can still be used as long as it’s introduced gradually or alternated with other actives.

This allows us to maintain progress without overloading the skin, a challenge many face when combining acne medication with skincare.

BIRETIX results: Patient case study

One young adult patient undergoing a course of antibiotics for severe facial acne used BIRETIX Cleanser, Duo, and Isorepair throughout. We supported treatment with biweekly LED sessions and introduced BIRETIX Mask every 10 days.

Her inflammation significantly reduced within 6 weeks, and we transitioned her onto a maintenance regime with BIRETIX Hydramat to prevent post-acne marks.
